South East and South-South Governors Sunday 8th Oct. 2017 met in Owerri, the State     Capital of Imo State, as the State Governor Rochas Okorocha. The Governors Forum was established on 9th of July 2017 to pursue interregional cooperation for greater integration and to politically work together towards realigning as a people that shared common heritage, culture and affinity.

The Governors Forum was established on 9th of July 2017 to pursue interregional cooperation for greater integration and to politically work together towards realigning as a people that shared common heritage, culture and affinity.


Akwa-Ibom state, governor, Emmanuel Udom was the Chairman of the South-East, South-South Governors Forum. Governors in attendance, they are: Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa-Ibom, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, the Governor of Anambra State, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Gabriel, the Governor of Bayelsa  state Henry Dickson, Governor Benedict Ayade of Cross River state, Ifeany Okowa, the Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki and the Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, others are: The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha who was the Chief Host, the Governor of Rivers State Ezenwo Nyeson Wike, and the Governor of Ebonyi State, while Dave Umahi, who was only the Governor absent.
The South-South, South-east Governors were ten in numbers. The meeting started with a prayer session at the Imo State Government House Chapel, were the Governor of Akwa-Ibom State Emmanuel Udom made the opening prayer as he interceded for the peace of every individual, families and the country. He also prayed for the unity, love and progress of the South-South, South-East region, using the book of Daniel 3.
Prof. Ben Ayade of Cross River State also in his 1st bible lesson read through the book of Gen. 1:6. Further at the church service, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, of Abia State, in his rendition gave two special numbers titled: “Great is thy faithful and Anyi n'aja gi nma”. Governor Nyesom Wike, of Rivers State while taking the 2nd bible reading, sighted the book of Psalm 133: 1-3, which states “Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. “He even called on the people of the SS/SE to work in togetherness and unity.
More so, the Governor of Delta State, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, preached from the book of Psalm 121, and also prayed for the peace of the region and Nigeria in general. He prayed that God should give Nigeria peace and unity. Governor Okowo, prayed that God should break every evil force holding back the growth of Nigeria. The Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Dickson Sarike, made a rendition through praises and worship, saying that “Power comes only from God, but appealed to the people of the Region to always pray for their leaders.” The Bayelsa State Governor said “If we serve the people well, we have served God also”. The prayer session was led by the Governor of AAnambra State willie Obiano, but was represented by his Deputy Dr. Gabriel who prayed for brotherly love, good leadership and social well being of the masses.
In attendance were over 600 clergymen from a Cross the states, Imo CAN Chairman, Chaplain of the Govt. House and other anointed men of God. Prof. Maurice Iwu, the former INEC Boss, was also present, with other Politicians. Speaking, the Chief Hose of the SS/SE Governor, Rochas Okorocha, said the meeting was first attempt for SS/SE Governors to come together in Imo State to solicit for the unity and peace of the region and the nation at large. He commended all the Governors for coming to Imo State, even as he described them as Pastors and men of God. Governor Okorocha said “if      not God, our political opponents would have killed us as Governors”.  He further said that the Governors of this present time are far better than the Governors of the past in everything. Governor Okorocha boasted “We are not just politicians, but we are all men of God with powers of development”.
