The Nigerian society is one that promotes strongly the values of materialism. Our values we have suddenly realized have taken a nose dive since and we appear helpless, only paying a lip service to its resuscitation. It is because the society does not frown at the sources of our wealth people are encouraged to engage in despicable acts to get rich. The catch is, get the money first by whatever means and every other thing will fall in place. Nigerians are known to involve in all kinds of dehumanising acts to enrich themselves. Our youths within and outside the country indulge in drug dealings, scamming business, kidnapping, ritual murders for money making, armed robbery etc.

The doctrine of separation of powers is one of the things that spice up the beauty of democracy. It demands that the three arms of government viz: the executive, legislature and the judiciary function independently but each still acting as a check on the others. This is basically to create stability in the political system and avoid one unit usurping and interfering with the duties of the other.
