There was palpable joy and hope for victory going the way of APGA in 2019 as Barrister Chief Humphrey Anumudu joined other heavy weights in Imo politics to declare for the party.

At Ezinihitte Mbieri ward in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, Chief Anumudu will be registered as a member of APGA by his ward chairman, Mr. Ikechukwu Onwuegbuchulam in the presence of party faithful. According to the APGA Mbaitol Local Government Chairman, Barrister Sylvester Iheakanwa, the entry of Anumudu into APGA has given a mileage to the party in the area and is a welcome development that ranks Mbaike among the strongholds of the party that will be delivered to APGA in 2019, adding that it is an opportunity to re-invent the party in the area and bring back those who are sitting on the fence or who are in other parties. He stressed that the length and breadth of Mbaitoli is now caught by the fever of APGA following the public declaration of intention by Anumudu to join APGA. It will be recalled that before now. It has been predicted that the victory of APGA in the Anambra election of last month will open the door for many people in Imo to join, and this is just a fulfillment of that prediction. In the very near future the state will quake with surprising movements into APGA, especially from Owerri zone. Some of the defectors have perfected their programmes and kept them to their chests until the right time when they will make them public with a bang.
Owerri zonal chairman of the party, Chief Amb. Jerry Rowlands Okoro, while commenting on Anumudu's move to APGA, said it didn't come to him as a surprise, pointing out that any good politician in the state would have no difficulty understanding that APGA will take over the government in 2019. He called on other notable politicians in the state particularly in Owerri zone to take a cue from Anumudu and declare for APGA if they truly wish to belong to the next government that will rule the state.
Speaking on the event, the State Publicity Secretary of APGA, Chief Dr. George Nkwoji described the move by Anumudu as wise and timely and reiterated the official position of APGA to treat everybody as a family member with equal rights and privileges, including the right to vote and be voted for, saying there will be no impunity or imposition of candidates, adding that only the most qualified candidates with untainted character will convince the electors.
In another development, a one day performance enhancement summit for APGA ward secretaries in Owerri zone held at the Egbu Road Secretariat of the party has ended with a charge to the scribes to understand the fact that they are the administrative hub of the party, whose roles determine the success or failure of the party in their respective wards, noting that the responsibility of enlarging the party rests with them by moving out to register members and keeping good records of activities of the party. They were further briefed that the power of political secretaries is quite enormous and when properly exercised ensures success of the party. “A party secretary must first, be honest, knowledgeable, trusted, physically active and sociable without being loose and flippant. He or she must be a team player and dedicated to the job with an admirable personality couched in good corporate dressing that will enhance his or her public image and respectability”
Guest speaker at the occasion, Chief John Iwuala, the APGA Assistant National Organizing Secretary, (South East) dropped this hint during the programme that brought together more than 100 participants from Owerri zone. He reiterated that there is no fracas or leadership tussle in Imo APGA, asking them not to entertain any fears over their positions as the party witnesses concurrency of people of other political parties joining APGA, pointing out that as congress elected officials, their positions are firmly secured except where a serving officer is unable to discharge his or her duties satisfactorily. The NWC member traced the success of the Anambra election to the determination of INEC and the Security Agencies, stressing that it is very easy to conduct a free and fair election in the country if the two organizations want it so. He said the recent introduction by INEC of form EC60 which is a large format of ward result sheet that is pasted after announcement of result to allow for people to snap and record was a rig proof innovation meant to ensure transparency. While tasking the ward secretaries on the need for continued sacrifice in the discharge of their duties, he informed them that the incoming APGA government will recognize them for appointments and other rewards, adding that the party will ensure free and fair primaries in the build-up to the 2019 elections.
Earlier in his key note address the State Secretary of APGA, Pastor Alphonsus Eberemadu said the summit, which was the first ever for party secretaries will be made more regular to ensure that they are properly armed to do their job with more efficiency and dedication, Insisting that 2019 will be a payback time for APGA secretaries. In his own speech, the coordinating secretary and  Mbaitol LGA Secretary, Comrade Godwin Ike said the meeting was timely and a good package to bring ward secretaries together for interaction saying that secretaries jobs are not only taking minutes  but can do more to achieve corporate success of any organization.
