Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has applauded the return of the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar into its fold, saying the party remains his home, stressing that Atiku's return is an indication that he has realized the lies and deceit of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party called on those who left the party at one time or the other to similarly return saying the umbrella is big enough to accommodate. In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, “The PDP welcomes the return of the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, (Wazirin Adamawa) to our great party, the PDP. We are indeed glad that he has realized the unbridled lies/deceit of his former party, the All Progressive Congress (APC). “The PDP remains his home; a house he was part of building and which he helped to nurture. We believe his return will add value in the process of rebuilding our Party to greater heights.
“This is another milestone recorded by the current leadership of our party in its quest to reconcile, rebuild and restructure the PDP ahead of the 2019 general elections and beyond. “We will continue to remain transparent and dedicated to the service of this party. Again, we want to use this opportunity to call on all our members that are still in the APC or other parties to return home. “We are equally extending our invitation to all those in the APC who are frustrated by the party's failure to deliver the goods. “Anyone who is desirous of a return to the era of abundance and freedom under the PDP administration is welcome. The umbrella is big enough to accommodate all.” In another development, Former President Goodluck Jonathan, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will become stronger after its national convention scheduled for December 9 in Abuja.
Jonathan made this known in an interview with newsmen after his visit to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, in Port Harcourt, on Sunday. He said that he was hopeful that by Saturday the PDP would elect its new set of National Officials who would lead the party to victory in the 2019 elections. “God willing, we will go through the convention and the party will become solid,” he said. “Now, we have the National Caretaker Committee and when you are a caretaker you are not as strong as an elected chairman. “You know the party just went through challenges; luckily we passed the challenges through the pronouncement of the Supreme Court.
“Now we want to formerly elect the national officials of the party that will lead us to the 2019 elections.”
Asked of his assessment of the Wike administration in Rivers State, Jonathan described him as one of the best governors revealing that he was not in Port Harcourt for any meeting but to appreciate the support Wike gave him during the burial of his brother- in-law. “He is one of the best governors in terms of commitment and putting structures on the ground,” he stated.
“I have always said that for you to say you are doing well as a governor you must add value to whatever you met on the ground. “He met certain structures and he improved on them. He has build roads and other infrastructure. “He even invited me to inaugurate one of the roads and bridges during the state's anniversary. That is why people call him Mr. Project.”
