Leadership of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in Owerri North has expressed strong determination to boost its numerical strength just as it has embarked on sensitization of electorates in the area to make APGA the choice for 2019.


This followed mandated meetings scheduled to take place in all the wards in the LGA before the end of the year aimed at integrating the new members from other parties who have been pouring into APGA since the official defection of PDP True Democrats into the party. Some of such meetings have been held at OAU ward, Naze ward and Obibi II ward in Uratta etc. At OAU ward, the event attracted many leaders and sympathizers of APGA who came from different neigbouring Igbo states to speak of the need for people of Owerri North and Ndigbo generally to embrace APGA following emerging situations in the Nigerian Polity. Such persons included Prof. Henry Njoku who came from his base in Rivers State and Nze Cyprian Oparaugo who flew in from Abia State. Prof. Njoku, the former Finance Commissioner under late Chief Evan Enwerem's administration while addressing the mammoth crowd that attended the meeting stressed that APGA is the new thing that is happening in Imo State at the moment and called on the members to synergize with the leadership in order to attain the objective of winning the 2019 election and using the party to unite Ndigbo across the South East geo-political zone.
He charged the members not to be surprised that many more people are on their way to join APGA, saying that he will always play his part to support the party, even though he is not going to do so to contest any position. The University teacher who laid emphasis on deployment of strategy and information management technique in building the party, mandated the ward chairmen to make a list of about 4 'bigmen'  from their ward each and submit to him for contact, saying the importance of such people cannot be ignored in building strength. He promised to use his contact to reach other Owerri North sons and daughters and bring them to support the LGA leadership. The meeting was held at Umuchoko Egbelu Obube on Saturday, 16th Dec. 2017 at the residence of one of the leaders, Eziopara Ben Anyanwu who also bankrolled it.
At Naze ward, on Tuesday this week, one of the leaders of the party from the community and Malaysia based, Oshieze Innocent Iheme called together all the ward members to a bash which attracted the presence of the LGA Chairman.
Mazi Vincent Amadi, the former House of Assembly member for Owerri North, Hon. Dan Ikpeazu, Chief Elvis Anumudu, Assistant National Organizing Secretary of the Party, Chief John Iwuala, and a frontline guber aspirant of APGA and former speaker of the Imo House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ike C. Ibe among many other dignitaries. The occasion was also used to showcase the women leaders of Owerri North LGA and wards in their new uniform bought for them by Oshieze Innocent.
Some of the leaders at the LGA meeting held in Obube included, Prof. Henry Njoku, Nze Oparaugo, State Publicity Secretary Chief Dr. Nkwoji, Hon. Dan Ikpeazu, Mr. John Agoha (John Kay), Barr. Onyeagoro, Oshieze Iheme, Engr. Jerome Chieke, Dr. Noel Onyewuotu, Eziopara Ben Anyanwu (host) and many others.
