Imo state chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA has described as appalling the recent population of registered voters in the South East region published by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC as it regards the 2019 general elections.

The state Publicity Secretary of the party, Dr. George Nkwoji made the pathetic revelations recently at Emekuku during the APGA sensitization rally, lamenting that going by the figures zone by zone, it does appear that the South East that used to be the first in the scheme of things is now the last and by implications, becoming minority in the Nigerian polity and population.
The Publicity Secretary who was visibly angry posited that the situation was possible due to the nonchalant attitude of the Igbos towards national issues, especially in performing civic responsibilities like in the case of the ongoing voter registration exercise and census. According to him, the Igbos have no negotiation powers and as a matter of fact, may no longer have the force to reflect on critical national issues and decisions. He declared the figures as follows; South East-8,146, 833, South-South-10,676,957, South West-14,220, 569, North East-9,325, 647, North Central-11,157, 988, North West 18, 033850.
The APGA mouthpiece further condemned the lackadaisical attitude of the region which has suddenly accorded the people a low population figure that does not reflect and represent the correct position and population of the people, hence he called on Ndigbo to wake up and be alive to their civic responsibilities, insisting that the people should continue to register and collect their PVCs since the exercise is ongoing in order to salvage the situation.
