Parents have been charged to help teachers in the proper upbringing and character moulding of their children. The Commissioner for Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Mrs. Gertrude Ego Oduka gave charge, at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Center, Bishops Courts, Owerri while speaking on the occasion of the Inter House Sports Competition of Dora Amako International Nursery and Primary School Owerri.

Parents have been charged to help teachers in the proper upbringing and character moulding of their children. The Commissioner for Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Mrs. Gertrude Ego Oduka gave charge, at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Center, Bishops Courts, Owerri while speaking on the occasion of the Inter House Sports Competition of Dora Amako International Nursery and Primary School Owerri.


Mrs. Oduka urged parents to be cautious of the type of information they pass to their children as the brain of any child at birth was a tabula rasa and information passed from what a child saw which moved to the brain and other parts of the body.
The Commissioner 'who spoke through the Director of School Sports, Mr. Cyril Anele described the day as a unique one in the lives of the children of the School as it pertained to early child education. She said the Proprietress of the School Dr. (Firs) Dora Amako had been outstanding in the education industry of the State and beyond; adding that her contributions in education, especially in the Early Child Education would remain indelible. The Commissioner said the School was a model and a pacesetter in the Private School Management. Mrs. Oduka commended the Management of the School for making the sporting fiesta an annual event as the importance of Sports could not be over stressed. She assured that the Ministry would do all it could to encourage the School in its educational objectives.
Speaking the chairman of the occasion Mr. Nkwocha Caleb praised the Proprietress of the School for packaging the epoch making event and congratulated the parents, teachers and pupils for a successful outing.
He attributed the Proprietress effective running of the School to her creativity and innovation, especially now the running of Private Schools was very competitive. Mr. Nkwocha stated that any parent whose child was in the School, should count himself or herself very lucky as the School was known for quality education. In the address by the Proprietress of the School, Dr. (Mrs.) Amako disclosed that the Inter House Sports Competition was the ninth (9th) in the series and was an annual event which the pupils looked forward for with excitement.
She said the pupils were grouped into five (5) houses namely: Angel House, Blue House, Green House, Red House and the Yellow House, Dr. (Mrs.) Amako added that last year, Red House, Yellow House and Green House came first, second and third respectively while in the match past, the Blue, Yellow and Green Houses took first, second and third position respectively, while the overall winner was Osigwe Chidozie.
