Political leaders across party lines in Imo state have accused the ruling All Progressive Congress APC, that on no account should the Local Government Election scheduled to hold in the 27 council areas of  the state on 14th July, 2018 be rigged by anybody.


They leaders of the parties jointly made this statement during a critical stakeholders meeting organized at the premises of the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC, along Owerri/Orlu Road in Owerri, the capital city of Imo State.
The party stalwarts who gave the warning in their separate speeches at a consultative meeting with  members of Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria IPAC Imo chapter expressed fears of possible rigging by the ruling All Progressive Party APC. They queried ISIEC's readiness to conduct free, fair and credible Local Government Election, even as they advised those planning to rig the election to retrieve their steps, vowing that they would resist any attempt to manipulate the polls.
They however pledged to work with ISIEC if they show commitment that the commission can conduct credible election. Reacting to their comments, ISIEC Chairman, Hon. Ethelbert Ibeabuchi assured the political parties that the Commission after extensive consultation is ready to deliver and urged them to have confident in the commission for a free and fair local government election. The ISIEC Boss enjoined them to play their own parts by working hard as power is not given, and also corporate with the commission to have a smooth conduct of the Election.
