Prominent member of All Progressive Congress Party, APC in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, Sir Emeka Obieribe (Agunanne) and several other members of APC in the area have publicly declared to leave their former party and joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The declarants on Tuesday last week at APGA office in Umuakaa in their large numbers from different parts of the LGA stated that their reason for joining APGA was informed by the colossal failure of APC to live by its promises and for exhibiting overt hatred on the Igbo nation through unleashing of the military and armed herdsmen to torment and kill the people of the South East.
The Okwudo born political tactician decried the inconsistencies in the life of the present administration of Imo State, pointing out that the government is in the habitual manner of making promises that it never fulfils. He described the policies of the APC led Federal administration as anti Igbo and that after considering the evolving political situation in the country he decided along with his people in their former APC party to belong where their fellow kit and kin are in the All Progressives Grand Alliance, saying they will swim and float with the party. He said, “My political trajectory began with the ACN, AC and then to APC and this to me is a regional party which co opted some Northern groups to form the present federal government. We Igbos owe it as a duty to our generation to unite ourselves under one political platform as others, and that platform is APGA. I am not contesting any position in the party but I must ensure that I have thrown my weight behind any candidate produced by APGA to make sure the party is elected into power in 2019.
We cannot continue to empower our enemy as the APC and the federal government is out to frustrate Ndigbo”. Obieribe further condemned the lack of functional institutions in the state under the present administration with heightened deceit and lying in every policy statement.
He drew parallel between the quality road projects done by the APGA government in Anambra state and the shabby touch-and –go projects of the Imo government, saying while the Anambra road projects connected different towns, that of Imo is done as spot projects to connect individual personalities homes and not communities. He called on other Igbos who have not yet realized the precarious situation of the region under the present federal government to wake up and look home-ward to APGA and make it their own weapon of political agitation and economic development. Receiving the declarants, the Njaba LGA Chairman of APGA, Nze Ndieze Nwogu expressed joy that the people of Njaba are beginning to understand and appreciate the message of a united Igbo regional political party that will solve the collective interest of Ndigbo which APGA represents. He assured the new APGA members of equal treatment, stressing that there is no discrimination or barrier in terms of time for any person to join and aspire for any position. He also stated that the door of the party is open to everybody to come forward and register. The chairman highlighted the importance of joining the party through the proper channel, which is through the ward chairman who will issue cards to members from his house or party office and not in the residence of an aspiring member. He urged members to work hard to deliver the party in the LGA, promising that APGA will secure its votes properly in the forthcoming election.
