Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday lost another member in the National Assembly as the Senator representing Anambra North in the Red Chamber, Stella Odua, who was also former Minister of Aviation during the tenure of Goodluck Jonathan, defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), amidst fun fare.

This is even as the national chairman of APGA, Victor Ike Oye, described the defection as a sign of what is to happen in the 2019 general elections, urging more senators and politicians to join the trend as APGA remains the healthiest political party in the country. It was a celebration galore at National Secretariat of the APGA as Senator Stella Odua renounced his membership of the PDP and expressed her favor for APGA, which she described as home coming, and a party that represents what she believe in her political carrier.
Senator Odua made her formal declaration for APGA at a ceremony marking the three years anniversary of Victor Oye's administration as the party's National Executive Committee in Abuja where she was received by big party faithfuls, including the six members of the party in the House of Representatives and the Senator representing Anambra Central, Victor Umeh, including the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
On whether her dumping the PDP was as a result of the alleged maltreatment mated on her by the party in her governorship ambition, she said no, adding " it is about philosophy, it is about way forward."
National chairman of the party, Victor Oye while recounting the successes recorded by the party in the last three years said "We've achieved unity of purpose as one party, one family and we have been promoting peaceful co-existence among Nigerians. APGA is a forward looking party.
"We do not engage in an undue pressure on government in power to achieve greater thing for this country even with the government in power to see how we can develop the nation. "Developing Nigeria is a collective responsibility, it is not a responsibility that people joke with, it is something that people take very seriously. Development of Nigeria is not Buhari's problem, it is our collective problem and that is the whole goal of APGA," he said.
Earlier, National secretary of the party and former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, noted that of all the big parties APGA signifies peace and orderliness. "Today's ceremony shows that in 2019 APGA will moves from strength to strength, noting that but for the manipulation of elections in Nassarawa and Abia states, comprising himself and Alex Oti of Abia state there would have been to governors in the party today in addition to the Executive governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano," he noted.
He said that the party would have had four governors to its platform but for the rigging machinery of the PDP and APC, as well as the selling of the party's platform to APC by the Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, who was elected on APGA platform but latter, defected to APC. Meanwhile, with this defection of senator Odua, the PDP now remains 41 in the senate.
