Irked by the situation of Imo State economy and its politics, a coalition of Imo Citizens from all areas of human endeavours under the aegis of Imo Network Group last weekend, thronged the Concorde Hotel Owerri, for a parley christened 'Leadership Selection Criteria'.

In his opening speech, the Global Administrator and BoT Chairman Prince Francis Chilaka, lamented that Imo citizens in 2019 are about to repent the mistake of 2011 where they were more concerned on ensuring that a particular Governor did not get re-elected and that no one cared about the dossier of whom they wanted elected.
As he said “it appears Imo citizens today are more concerned about whom they don't want in 2019 or the party they do not want than who they would want”. According to him “it will be better to focus on the character of the person we would like to be our Governor in 2019 and give him our total support”.
In one of the highlights the group said greatest obstacle that may hinder some governorship aspirants may be what the group called “Excellent Career History and Outstanding Track Records” which says “We need people who have managed people and resources before coming into politics so that we can easily assess their ability. We do not need career politicians or people whose life achievement is appointment as Personal Assistant (PA), Special Adviser (SA), Commissioner, House member etc without any previous known career history. We do not need government contractors.
The Group furthered that come 2019 Imo people should need real educated person. They must vote for someone with proper education and with verifiable certificates. Moreover, the Group said, the person must have classmates for references purposes. The Group enjoined every Imo citizen to vote and defend their votes. Among the dignitaries that graced the occasion were Prof. Jude Njoku, Transport mogul Mr. Frank Nneji, and former Governor Ikedi Ohakim who was represented among other dignitaries.
