What seems to look like one of the latest Nollywood movies last Saturday, August 4, 2018, took place right inside the premises of Maria Assumpta Catholic Cathedral Owerri, when a very young man dressed in a complete regalia of the Catholic Priests was nabbed in his bid to snatch away one out of the thousands of vehicles parked in the church compound during the 2018 Ordination Mass Service of Reverend fathers.

The alleged fake Priest, who identified himself as Gabriel Chidera Okani, said he is a native of Umuebule Okporo in Orlu LGA of Imo state and 35 years of age. Chidera, while narrating his ordeal, said it was the demon that has possessed him that moved him to disguise himself as a seminarian, but unfortunately luck ran out of him. He said "we're gangs of evil men, headed by a woman to do all forms of negative things that is against humanity and God, but please, forgive me", he asserted.
According to him, “I am not here alone, we're many around the Cathedral poised to snatch cars especially Toyota Camry products and some other good ones”. He was however caught, disgraced, beaten to stupor by aggressive worshippers who were eye witnesses. All efforts our reporter made to speak with the Public Relations Officer or the Director of Communication of the Cathedral proved fruitless as at the time of filing the story.
Similarly, policemen in Abuja, yesterday Monday disclosed that they have arrested a two-man gang who does nothing but steal from the house of God. These young men were caught after being in the game for about three years. According to media reports, the suspects who were identified as 19-year-old Nwobodo Christopher and 23-year-old Stephen Daniels, resides around Apo district in Abuja. They were also described as experts in burgling from churches and disposing them at giveaway prices. While speaking with the police, they revealed that they are able to carry out their operations with the help of the security guards working in churches, adding that, they are also backed by one Alhaji Iliya who buys their loot. One of suspects, Christopher attributed their preference for musical instruments to the brisk demands from operators of drink joints and entertainment centres.
According to them, they sell loudspeakers, the big ones and the amplifier to Iliya for N15, 000. However, 19-year-old Christopher from Enugu state and 23-year-old Daniel from Adamawa state were arrested after stealing from a Pentecostal church located in Apo.
