Imo state chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has dismissed insinuations from different quarters that the party's leadership may have compromised by selling its guber ticket ahead of primaries in the struggle to ensure that the party produces Okorocha's successor in 2019.


The party in a statement signed by the state Publicity Secretary of APGA, Dr. George Nkwoji and made available to Nigeria Moment described the insinuations as unfounded and baseless, arguing that the party's guber ticked would neither be for sale, nor going to be given to any of the incumbent governor, Rochas Okorocha's associates. “The party therefore reassured Imolites that the party is committed in the quest to ensure the restoration of confidence in the system and the party members as well as rebuild Imo”. According to the release, the party's leadership is insisting in developing APGA and nurturing it to become a dominant party in the South East of the country.
It furthered that while the party celebrates the entry of many politicians, it is however conscious of the plight of Imolites as a result of the Rochas phenomenon and would therefore avoid everything Rochas, including those who backed and gave him predators teeth with which he devoured the state. “We remind Imolites to be aware that APGA is the battlefield in the war between Rochas and the people. APGA is focused on presenting a reliable and acceptable guber candidate to manage the onerous task of rebuilding the state, bearing in mind that ultimate agenda of developing and nurturing the party to become the dominant political platform for Ndigbo”. In furtherance the party declared that the leadership is not and would not be contemplating of sabotaging the interests of the majority of Imolites to actualize victory in 2019 general elections.
