As the 2019 Nigeria's general elections draw near, resilient female political activist and human rights crusader, Lady (Mrs.) Echefu Ada Gladys has charged Nigerian youths and women to shun discussions, gatherings and situations that could either generate bad blood or result to violent clashes.

In an encounter with news men in Owerri, Imo State Capital, Lady Gladys Echefu who is the founder of a non-governmental organization (NGO), Women of Good Governance explained that the electoral victory or failure of any candidate or political party is not worth or equivalent to the blood of any Nigerian.
According to Gladys Echefu, youths and women should realize that no true patriot or selfless politician would want to use young men and women as political thugs, just to win election.
“This is why our youths should not resort to violence in making somebody win an election. The future of our youths is very important and it is only those youths that refrain from political violence and remain alife that can emerge as leaders of tomorrow”, the female activist stated.
Urging mothers to advise and discourage their children from violent conduct during the elections, Lady Echefu who hails from Umuchoke, Amaigbo in Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State, pointed out that women as mothers of youths and direct caretakers of their husbands, have a lot to do in reducing violence to the bearest minimum and ensuring good governance in Nigeria.
Decrying the abysmal level of decay in the nation's political system, the human rights crusader advised women in particular and youths thus, “I know that there is hunger in the land but, any person that accepts money, rice or other material gifts to vote for a wrong candidate has sold his future, it will be very difficult for us to get ourselves out of the grip of bad rulers, once we give them our mandate through bribery and God will not even hear our cries. This is the time for us, the entire electorate to be careful, so that we do not make another mistake. So, let's say no to violence and bribery to make our society a better place”.
The founder of Women of Good Governance condemned the use of thugs by politicians to either kidnap or assassinate their opponents. “The political situation in Nigeria today is becoming very cloudy with kidnap of persons by gun men on the increase. This is not good enough for the polity. We can no longer  fold our arms and watch things go wrong. The women, elders and youths should no stay at home on election days because, evil rulers must be voted out of office. Enough of bad governance”, she concluded.
