The Nigerian nation once again after 2015 is in another round of elections to choose leaders. Eight days from now to the Presidential and National Assembly elections, mind-boggling statements are trending on the air and on the pages of the Newspapers. This is exactly how it was in 2015 elections. Recall the situation the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan was when the main opposition party, APC candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari challenged Jonathan. From all flanks, fronts, APC Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed was at his element, backed with the South-west media particularly the Nation Newspaper. America, Britain and their allies were handy de-marketing President Jonathan to project General Muhammadu Buhari as alternative. For instance, the America President, Barack Obama sent his Foreign Secretary of State, Mr. John Kerry to Nigeria not to visit Jonathan but went to dialogue with the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar III and Northern governors of APC extraction behind close door. He left back without brief stop-over to recognize Mr. President. Within the same period and part of American scheming to destabilize Nigeria government, the Western nations and their allies declared that the Nigerians Federation was heading for disintegration should the elections end in crisis.
As Jonathan assured Nigerians and the international community, he conceded defeat which doused tension and apprehension.
Although peace pact has been signed by all the Presidential candidates including the President and his foremost challenger, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar there are disturbing signals emanating from the side of the Ruling party, APC. These signs are discouraging, disturbing, alarmist and defeatist. Why would the Information Minister Alhaji Lai Mohammed incite Nigerians and disparage the international community or the European Union for insisting for credible and transparent elections? The Minister of Information and Culture must come to terms that Nigerians are tired of the dummies that PDP wants to rig the election and that the European Union and observer groups are dabbling into the internal affairs of the nation's sovereignty.
Similar to the allegations peddled by Lai Mohammed, the Chief of Army Staff declared to clampdown on the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, threatening to deal with them for planning to disrupt the elections. Burutai warned IPOB and its foreign conspirators not to destabilize the nation.
The question any probing mind would ask, is whether PDP has the capacity to do so or a case of calling a dog a bad name. To answer the question, it becomes indispensable to revisit the Discourse column edition of 23-24 February, 2015 titled: Western nations: Their hypocrisy and conspiracy. Abridged for lack of space.
“Since the commencement of 2015, the nation is passing through a season of tension and apprehension. If we vocalize that the western nations do not have the interests of Nigeria at heart, it is not a mis-assessment. Since the amalgamation of the Southern and Northern Protectorates in 1914 and the Independence era of 1960, Britain and America in particular have not shown a remorse of conscience watching Nigerian nation flounder, unable to wield its component parts, the South and the North into one entity. Reason is not far-fetched. One strong united Nigeria is an envy, a super nation in the African continent and a force to reckon with in the comity of nations. Little wonder, Jonathan as envisaged in 2011 is divine ordained and the Moses of Nigeria and must be seen frustrated by western nations.
The circumstance and the emergence of President Jonathan in 2011 seemed a source of surprise to Britain and America, experts in diplomacy and installing unpopular governments for their economic interests. As fast as and as futuristic as they are, they knew, projected that President Jonathan would want to seek a second term in office in 2015, they must put a spanner in the works. They went wild with a projection that Nigerian Federation may likely end in 2015. With such mind-boggling projection Nigerians bought it, blended toward it and the main opposition party got swollen-headed. Recent occurrences proved that America and its allies implanted perpetual trepidation, discomfort among Nigerians, kept President Jonathan on edge so as to stampede him into chickening out. One wonders why Britain and America with their vast economic investments in Nigeria would allow the Boko Haram aggression to exist other than for ulterior motive, to embarrass Jonathan's administration. With their numerous intelligence capacity, gathering, it is unbelievable that they knew not that it was not conducive to hold the 14th and 28 February elections as scheduled. That these countries agreed to give logistic support to INEC to conduct the elections in the face of insecurity, lackluster preparation of INEC, injurious disproportionate distribution of PVCs were to stampede Jonathan out of office for the less qualified, incompetent General Muhammadu Buhari. Were Britain and America truly friends of Nigeria, when they knew, felt palpable blood-bath only waiting for a presidential election would have been inconsequential proportion to the averted ones. Nigerians would have been unable to contain or contend with the massive destruction of lives and property. The question is, where are the cobblers, manicurists plying their trades in Imo State? Why did the cow dealers of Northern extraction suspend their business in Imo state and left back to their natural home in the North unannounced? Those from the South reciprocated for fear of reprisal attacks.
If Britain and America were indeed Nigerian allies, as they often claim and assert, they should have highlighted the positive achievements of Jonathan since 2011. The blind can see the life changing transformation across the board nationally. What stopped the two nations predicting that the true nationhood will truly be actualized in 2015 through the re-election of President Jonathan? They unfortunately chose the path of perfidy, negatively by raising passion that the country's future depends on the outcome of the 2015 general elections. It is obvious that Buhari is their candidate.
Since the western nations pretend not to see the good works of Mr. President, preferring pitching-tent with Buhari, perhaps because Buhari is, pliant,  ready to play ball, it will be lethal to continue to allow foreign nations to meddle in the internal affairs of Nigeria, influence our sovereignty. President Jonathan should take up the gauntlet, resist any attempt to want to dictate for Nigeria. General Buhari has the right to visit the Royal Institute of International Affairs London, visit the British Prime Minister in London, the same way the national security adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki retired did on the need to reschedule the general elections by six weeks. Although some argue that Buhari's visit to Britain is not political but on health ground, which is more authentic and believable because of the hang-over following the postponement of the elections, which of course he believed were going in his favour.
As far as I am concerned and belatedly conscious of, it is clear that disintegration option is a ruse, an agenda in the figment of the imagination of America, a ploy to destabilize President Jonathan, stampede him out of power for the overall interests of America and its allies.
The western nations are not alone in the quest to craft the downfall of President Jonathan. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was away two weeks ago for a five-nation trip where he condemned in strong terms the postponement of the elections, describing the reason for such action as flimsy. Obasanjo accused the President of nursing a sinister motive agenda to win the 28 March Presidential election by hook or by crook, using the service-chiefs- an allegation already debunked by the military hierarchy. Obasanjo further alleged the President was nursing tenure elongation. Mr. President as usual dismissed the allegation. In the same vein, the postponement of the elections, which millions of Nigerians have supported, seen as inevitable so as to correct obvious imbalances, injustices done to over 25m Nigerians of voting age deprived of PVCs from the catchment areas of President Jonathan, is an indication that Jega has compromised. That Alhaji Ibrahim Coomasie, Dr. Jonard Mohammed, Alhaji Abubakar Mamman Dan Musa, Alhaji Lawal Kaita and others too numerous to mention cannot openly condemn open robbery about to be executed in favour of Buhari stripped themselves of their age long claim of being democrats. Consequently, they have murdered sleep. In their insomniac state of minds, afflicted with restlessness, they now harp on a Federal Court of Appeal ruling that no soldiers should be deployed for the conduct of the elections. According to them, the President wants to rig the 28th March presidential election with the deployment of the soldiers. But is it true that President Jonathan wants to use soldiers to rig the election? It is a false alarm, a blackmail by APC to attract public sympathy having realized that President Jonathan is unstoppably coasting to victory. “Ended.
In 2015 APC in its desperation to win the Presidential election threatened to form a parallel government should the elections be rigged. Now that APC is the government of the day with the enormous powers, to appoint the Inspector General of Police, the Service Chiefs at his whims and caprices of PMB, the INEC chairman, at his beck and call, which party is pursuing the elections do or die? APC is rather plotting to rig, afraid of defeat: To divert attention, criminalize, demonize and de-market PDP or CUPP is by alleging foreign conspiracy and meddlesomeness.
Lai Mohammed, Garuba Shehu and many other APC members should not blackmail the International  Community for showing interests in the general elections. They are not supporting President Buhari or the PDP Presidential, candidate. But if former America President Barack Obama supported the emergence of Gen Muhammadu Buhari to defeat Goodluck Jonathan, the current American President, Mr. Donald Trump objectively wants the better for Nigerians. Falsehood, evil machinations, marginalization, poverty, hunger etc having expiry date. By next week, President Buhari will be deserted by many strategic apologists of his administrations having belatedly realized that all the departments of the government are headed by his own people and religion. What APC has succeeded teaching Nigerians is that PDP is not the devil it indoctrinated Nigerians.
All Nigerians  are unanimous in exercising the PVCs to vote out PMB. Finally, Nigerians doff their hats, commend leaders across the geo-political zones who are not carried away by sectional and zonal sentiments. Such leaders are Chief Fani Kayode, Ibrahim Bunu, Ango Abdullahi, Buba Galadima, Junaid Mohammed. Shehu Sani.
