There were indications that police have commenced investigations into the remote cause of the burning on INEC office in Umuneke, the Ngor Okpala local government capital on Sunday by unknown thugs. Nigeria Moment equally noted that the police in collaboration with other security agencies began search of thugs who snatched ballot papers. It was gathered that thugs suspected to be hired by the AA supporters stormed some polling units and attacked voters and election adhoc workers in Egbelu Obuhe of OAU ward in Owerri North LGA of Imo state and snatched ballot boxes in some polling units. Nigeria Moment gathered that the thugs landed at the Umuneke INEC secretariat in a commando style with two motor cycles and rushed straight to the INEC complex and set the place ablaze. It was equally gathered that the men of the underworld who were masked came attacking few minutes after the INEC officials left the area for Owerri to return the results for the governorship and House of Assembly elections. Shortly after the mayhem, teams of armed police and army personnel arrived the scene to see things for themselves. But before they could arrive, the thugs zoomed off.
