Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere Sunday joined Christians all over the world to congratulate mothers on the auspicious occasion of Mothers-Day.

The Deputy Governor made his remark during the celebration at the Chapel of Praise, Anglican Communion, at his country home, Lake Malinda, Mbieri, Mbaitoli local government area of Imo State. Madumere described Women as the life wire of the family, which is the bedrock of the society. He highlighted the sufferings mothers go through in the course of child bearing, upbringing and home building. Speaking further he said: " In Nation Building, women are the real catalyst for nation building. Our first view towards our immediate environment and society at large is shaped by the indoctrination we go through by our mothers. It is also their ability to impact of these young ones positively that will determine what they become to a very large extent."
He therefore voted for better deal for women in government policies, stating that women go through a lot through child bearing, where some even die in the process. "There must be a sustainable health care policy towards catering for mothers and even those above child bearing age;" he stated. He further hammered on the importance of girl child education, suggesting that it should be compulsory, insisting that any mother without the right education will do little to impact on her young ones because nature has made it that the children most often are closer to their mothers.
He therefore call on all and sundry, especially men and children to appreciate mothers and give them good 'gifts' because without them the world would have been void and probably would not have been into existence. While wishing mothers a happy celebration, he reminded them of the task of ensuring they collaborate with their husband to ensure they raise their children in the way of the Lord, maintaining it is the only way they can become good citizens. " It is only when we have done our good best that we can be sure of better leaders of tomorrow who will be useful to their families and the society at large."
Earlier in his sermon themed 'Mothers, Builders of Home', Ven. Dr. Sunday Iherue, the vicar of 'Chapel of Praise' charged mothers to search their lives and ensure that their characters are in tandem with God's description of a good wife and mother. Reading from proverbs Chapter 31:10, he said: "Women must endeavour to live up the bible standard where they can be seen as wives of noble characters. "Your husbands' must find cause to have absolute confidence in you. Your conduct must preserve the respect and image of your husbands';" he stated.
He further advised women to remain submissive to their husbands whatever their status may be in the society. He was quick to remind them that husbands remain the dignity  and respects they have in the society. He charged them to take seriously the divine task of ensuring that children are brought up in the ways of the Lord, stressing that it is the real foundation of national development. High points of the celebration were the special renditions by Mothers led by Lady (Barr.) Iherue followed by special prayers for women.
