John Keane is a professor of politics at the University of Westminster and the WZB (Berlin).
The aforementioned scholar, who is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, is the author of a best seller politics book called “The life and Death of Democracy”. As a student of political philosophy, Professor Keane has won my undying admiration for writing frankly on and about the vicissitudes and concupiscence of politics as the world knows the trade now.

I have in one of my writings told a story of what an Hausa person told an Igbo Bishop in the North couple of years ago. In conversation, the Hausa told the Bishop of his Church with due respect, “Bishop, I like your people because they are hardworking. But they have one problem. They are intelligent but not wise.”

In my primary school days, a pupil boy was asked to explain the adage 'Once bitten, twice shy' and, he struggled in his staggering capacity to say that 'when your fellow pupil bits" you, you do not have to come to school for two days, to avoid being shy twice before other pupils'.
