This assurance was made last weekend in their Owerri Secretariat at Ikemba Ojukwu Complex New Owerri during a meeting organized by the leaders and management of the club with the footballers. About (four) Resource Persons educated the players and the officials on how they would play with their opponents (other football club and win) the Resource Person are: Dr. Amos Agwumba, Mr. Emeka Nwokorie, Mr. Goddy Glade and Prof. Success Anyanwu, who collectively charged the Heartland Football Club players to use the opportunity of the sports tutorial as a point of contact to win victoriously.
Addressing the players, the Secretary of Nigerian National League, NNL, Mr. Nicholas Akujobi, enjoined the players to ensure their career in football is elevated as such would indeed make them prominent in the global world of sports especially in football, advising them not to destroy their sports career with their own hands, but rather they should inculcate the spirit of discipline which will make them to be celebrated in the football industry.
He called on them to display good attitude to the match officials and avoid confrontations with the match officials, warning that “do not sale out your club, do not exchange any kobo as a player with your match officials”. Mr. Akujobi furthermore harped against double registration, but encouraged them to always remain honest in all they do. The NNL Secretary, told the players to endeavour to score earlier goals especially on the first-half of each game, whether home or away match.
Speaking also, another Resource Person, Prof. Success Anyanwu, taught on the psychology of sport especially on football, away-match and cited on the 17-laws of the game. Prof. Anyanwu however disclosed the importance of law-3, which states that “a team captain does not have equal right with the match officials, like the Referees and the line-men”. He warned against time wasting, but appealed to the players to apply passion while playing for the club, assuring that
He would bring-back the lost glory of the football club in the current sports competition at the Nigerian Premier League.
The Team Manager, Mr. Mobi Oparaku thanked the speakers, organizers of the meeting and promised to anchor victory to the club.
The chairman of HLFC, Hon. Goodfaith Etuemena said he want the club to bounce back to its positions in Nigeria sports as he believed they would surely emerge victorious. In a related development, Heartland FC Sunday March 26, 2017 defeated Nnewi United FC by 1-0 at Onitsha. According to sports reports, Heartland has climbed to 6 points in the 2017 NPL.
