Heartland football of Owerri this weekend in far away Lagos could not maintain the tempo they exhibited in Umuahia against oriental foes Enyimba as the Naze Millionaires succumbed to bottom side Ikorodu United by 3-1. The Coach Alphonsus Dike side put every foot wrong in the encounter which some have blamed on Jet Lag. The team played on Wednesday, left for Lagos on Thursday, reached on Friday and played on Saturday, a mission impossible for any other team. This is the heaviest defeat the team will suffer in the on-going football season.

The Peoples Elephant, Enyimba International of  Aba trounced visiting Vitalo 5-1 to put one step into the group stages of the lucrative CAF Champions League.
The Aba giants playing away from the Aba slaughter  house entertained their fans and those who thronged the Port Harcourt Stadium to scintillating football despite their shoddy start in the domestic league. With this score, the second league a fortnight will be a mere formality. In other CAF champions league matches, Kedus of Congo drew 2-2 at home to defending champions, TP Mazembe to make the second leg a herculean task, while Khowtiga drew 1-1 with Etoile Sahel of Tunisia. In Cameroun, Union Douala lost at home 1-0 to Egyptian Power house Zamalek. The Egyptians thus put themselves in a vantage position for the second leg in Cairo. Vita Club took a narrow 1-0 first leg home advantage as they try to book the group stage at the expense of Ferroviono of Madagasca. Warri Wolves put themselves in a precarious condition when they lost 1-0 at the Warri Township stadium against old war horse Al-Meneikh of Sudan. The Sudanese who took an early lead defended stoutly to make the second leg easier for them. In the other match, Etoiledu Congo drew 1-1 with Es Setif of Algeria in Congo to make the second in Algiers a do or die affair.

The oriental derby between fledging Abia Warriors of Umuahia and their elder brother Enugu Rangers recorded a four-goal thriller at the Umuahia Township Stadium. Reports say the match lived up to its billing in a two-all draw with the home lads playing the game of their life. In other venues, Niger Tornadoes got the better of Rivers United 3-2 in another thriller, while Mountain of Fire Ministries FC, MFM continued their Leicester City- style exploit when they caged the Warriors of Maiduguri 3-1.
In Nnewi, FC. Ifeanyi Uba demolished Ikorodu United with a 4-1 spanking. Giwa FC pipped Sunshine Stars of Akure 1-0 at the Jos Township Stadium while Kano Pillars held tight playing Lobi Stars to a 2-2 draw at the Aper Aku Stadium. The last result of week 6 between Akwa United and Plateau United ended 2-0 in favour of the Abasi Ibom lads at the Uyo township stadium. The other oriented derby, the biggest and toughest in the East between Enyimba and Heartland was postponed due to the continental engagements of the People's elephant.
