The Committee for the Investigation of Local Government Administration from 2011 to March 2019 led by the Chairman, Chief Sir. Eze Duruiheoma, SAN, with his Committee members on Friday, Nov.8th 2019, in Owerri, told newsmen that the Local Government Administration in Imo State for over 8 years was alleged to misuse well over N60 billion with the past Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha.

Members of the Committee for the Investigation of LG Administration in Imo, during their meeting, in Owerri, last week.

Speaking, the committee chairman, Chief Duruiheoma, who made the above assertion, debunked the Newspaper publication made recently by the Imo state ALGON Chairman, Barr. Gerald O.T. Mgborokwu, Esq, where he alleged that the constitution of the committee is illegal and stated that the members of the committee are card carrying members of the Imo PDP and that some of the committee members have various offenses hanging on their necks with EFCC and more that he claimed that the tenure of the former LG Chairmen were still subsisting.

Sir. Duruiheoma, in his words, said his committee was duly and officially appointed by Gov. Emeka Ihedioha, to serve as agents to the Rebuild Mission administration.

Eze Duruiheoma who spoke through his committee secretary, Barr. Dr. Ken Uzoechi, expressed dissatisfaction with the height of catalogues of defamatory, ill-informed, unguided and uncouth statements by Barr. GOT Mgborokwu, who he said is parading himself as the Imo ALGON Chairman.

The Investigation Committee, cited Law No.15 of 2000 as amended, where the power was vested on them by the government to investigate on their alleged misappropriation of LGA funds.

“No member of the Committee is under the EFCC investigation, and as such we are poised to make Imo State a better place”, he submitted.

The Committee further re-alleged that the Local Governments Administration under the Rescue Mission Administration of Rochas Okorocha, made away the public fund worth approximately over #60 billion from their investigation so far.

The Investigation Committee leadership of the present Imo Govt. therefore disclosed that they have invited the past LGA chairmen, but they ignored invitations.

“We are ceasing this opportunity to call on the past LGA Chairmen to come for mutual cooperation. We are also giving them the last chance to appear”, the Committee appealed.

Earlier, the committee on Investigation has reiterated that they are  not going to witch hunt any member of the past Imo LGA Chairmen, rather that they come for proper clarification for absolute transparency and objectivity as part of Rebuilding Imo.

A member of the Committee, High Chief Ezekiel Chukwukere, assured Imo people that his committee is ever passionate to investigate all corrupt LG Chairmen who practiced unlawfully during the past govt.
